Quinalt, WA – Climate Lies

[last update: 2022/12/15]

Alarm, Alarm

The alarmist Seattle Times is lying again.

The Quinault Indian Nation is just one of many tribal communities now bearing the brunt of climate change despite contributing very little to it.

Sea Level Rise

From the article: “At the confluence of the Quinault River and Pacific Ocean, the village had already begun to experience the effects of sea level rise

Really?

The closest sea level station is at Neah Bay, WA – the sea level “rise” is shown below.

It has actually been falling since data recording began (due to isostatic rebound since the ice age).

And to the south of Quinalt is Astoria, OR – still no sea level rise:

So somehow the Quinalt are experiencing the “effects of sea level rise” when the sea level is not even rising there!

The lying EPA says:

The Quinault Indian Nation village of Taholah is located within Washington State at the confluence of the Quinault River and the Pacific Ocean. Taholah is particularly vulnerable to sea level rise”.

Climate Data

From the article:

The Quinault Indian Nation is just one of many tribal communities now bearing the brunt of climate change

and

The impacts of climate change — sea level rise, flooding, erosion, storm surges and tsunamis — have made it unsafe for Indigenous communities to continue living in low-laying areas

Sea level rise was debunked above. Tsunamis are caused by earthquakes – not “climate change”.

Quinalt is in WA climate division 1

Data plotted at: https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cag/statewide/time-series

Precipitation: No trend:

Drought: No trend:

Although the alarmist Seattle Times did not mention temperature in their list of “impacts of climate change”, there has been no warming there.

Maximum temperature: No trend:

As for flooding / erosion, the Bureau of Reclamation has a different story.

As usual, alarmists conflate non-climate issues (land use change due to clearcut logging in this case) with climate change.

Their agenda can’t stand on data so they have to lie.

Seattle is known for its wokeness, not rational behavior:

The big slogan in Seattle is “love local”, meanwhile they all support the non-local globalist powers and larger government. And even though there is no climate change in the area:

The feds are giving $25 million to the Quinalt to relocate away from the river.

They are also giving $25 million to the Alaskan village of Newtok for similar purposes. Newtok is also a climate scam described as the first climate refugees – see: http://appinsys.com/GlobalWarming/Newtok.htm
